More From Our Trip to Breckenridge

Breckenridge, Colorado is my favorite place to vacation for many reasons:

1) It's gorgeous year round, you must try both summer and winter in Breck and let me know what's your favorite. I am still deciding which is my favorite.

2) It has awesome local restaurants, bars and shops.

3) It's just a hop, skip and a jump from Denver which is full of culture and awesome places to dine and shop.

4) The people in Breck are so nice and laid back which makes it a fun time.

5) There are truly hundreds of activities to do while vacations in Breckenridge. Here are some of our favorites:
  1. Skiing in the winter
  2. Renting a bike and cruising around the town or renting a bike closer to Lake Dillion and biking around there. Gorgeous views!
  3. Hiring a guide and going fly fishing
  4. Driving around and looking at all the beautiful homes
  5. Getting a crepe at the Crepe stand on Main St.
  6. Going to the outlet malls (we have outlet malls here in OK but for some reason, they are just more fun in Colorado!)
  7. Hot-tubbing it with a glass of wine.
  8. Take a drive on Swan Lake Road or Dillion Dam Road for the very best scenic views
And a few things I would still like to try!
  1. Tubing down a (small) mountain
  2. Hire a guide and go snow shoeing
  3. Hire a guide and go snow mobiling
  4. Zip lining in the summer

First day skiing pre helmet hair and frozen face :)
We stopped for Bloody Mary's at Seven's Restaurant and Bar on Peak 7.

Panoramic view...we stopped often to simply enjoy the beauty of the Rockies.

EXCITING NEWS!

Happy Monday, Blogettes! I am back from a fabulous vacation in the lovely mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado where the amazing Blake proposed to me! (insert engagement ring, heart and celebration emojis!)

Breck has always had a special place in our hearts as a couple. It was our first vacation spot together as a couple and since then, we have visited several times in the summer and winter time.

In particular, we have a very favorite restaurant there called The Hearthstone. I highly recommend it for anyone going to Breck. Anyway, we tagged along with my parents on this trip so they got to join in on the fun! I had made reservations for The Hearthstone and it ended up that we were running late for our reservation and I was not a happy camper but I soon learned that it was part of the plan. Because we were running late, my parents dropped Blake and I off at the front door. We were directed to our awesome table in which we sat down. Blake told me that he had recently realized we had been dating for 1,113 days and that each day I have become more his best friend and how much he loved me. Blake is pretty frequent with his sweet words so I did not think much of this. Then, the waitress brought us some champagne! I thought that was so sweet but I truly had no idea a proposal was in store. We drank our champagne and as I sat my drink down Blake said, "what's that right there?" and pointed to a very sparkly and gorgeous ring! We pulled the ring out and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Blake's main objective was the catch me off guard and he did for sure. Side note: He asked if we could go look at rings next week so I really thought there was no way that we could be getting engaged on this trip!

Champagne glass that my ring was sitting in the bottom of. Blake was worried I would see the ring in the champagne as the waitress brought it. I did not see a thing and Blake actually had to point the ring out to me. Haha.

Right after we got engaged, Blake called my parents and said they could come in. They were in on the plan the whole time. It meant the world to me that Blake included them in the proposal.
YAY!!!!
My parents and us. Such a special night.

Now Breckenridge holds a more special place in our hearts. As beautiful and as special as Breck is, we have decided to get married there! 7/17/15 here we come!

Houston Travels

I have a lovely friend from college. Her name is Lauran and she lives in Houston. I would love for her to move back to Oklahoma but...until then, I will visit her in Houston every once in a while and we will shop a whole bunch and eat amazingly delicious food. Not complaining here :)

I went to visit her a couple of weeks back and here is a little recap of our Houston adventures. Lauran is definitely a foodie and it was such a wonderful time trying new foods at really neat places. Sadly, we did not get any pictures together.

All ready to explore Houston!

First stop was Adair Kitchen for an awesome Turkey Burger.

Dinner that night consisted of fried oysters at Liberty Kitchen and Oyster Bar.

Gulf of Maine Acadian Redfish wrapped in bacon with a little pinot grigio.

The next day we might have made a little stop at Prada for a lovely little clutch.

A juice bar? Yes please! I had the Chaturanga Cowabunga and it was awesome. This was Lauran's first time (she was hesitant!) to have fresh juice and she loved it.

Tacos and margs at Torchy's.

Cloud 10 Creamery for dessert. I am not even sure what I had, I just took Lauran's suggestion and it was just wonderful. It definitely had peanut butter and jelly ice cream in it, though! This place gives Braum's a run for their money. I can't believe I just said that.

My last meal in Houston was a fabulous omelet at The Buffalo Grille. They have cinnamon coffee and it is the best coffee I have ever had, hands down.

I loved visiting Lauran and cannot wait to go back to Houston for more shopping, quality time and good eats :)

a sunny -3 degrees

Good Morning! I thought I'd share a lovely view with you from Breckenridge as I am browsing the www and waiting for my family members to wake up (having a real job where I am used to waking up early each morning + 1 hour time change makes me wake up REALLY EARLY) while my college sibling is used to sleeping in. So, while I wait I am reading design blogs and sharing a pretty picture with you, I don't mind.

Oh, and it is a warm -3 here today. Yikes! We're planning on skiing today...lets just hope my hot pink long underwear are as practical as they are cute! :)

OKC featured on Design*Sponge

Design*Sponge does a city guide post every couple of weeks featuring a new city. This week it is OKLAHOMA CITY! I AM SO PROUD!! There are so many new shops and restaurants opening up all around the city and this guide  is very helpful! So many little spots that I've never even heard of! I can't wait to check them out! I have always lived about 20 minutes from OKC and ever since I was little I would go shopping with my mom on Saturdays in the city. I love that OKC is becoming more recognized for its music scene and the city style that its gaining. Lots of renovations are going on. I am really excited about what its turning into! A little slow...but better late than never!

Pictures from Lubbock.

I went to Lubbock at the end of August to see Kelli, who lives there and Katie who flew in from Memphis. They are my sweet summer project freinds...and my blogging buddies as well :) I read up on their blogs often. A week after visiting kelli got ENGAGED to teddy. We totally knew it was going to happen soon- we were just so sad that we couldn't be there to celebrate. We tried to talk teddy into proposing while we were there...
I had a blast visiting and can't wait to see you all again in March for the wedding :) yay!!

she loves him.

Vaca to Breck

Vacationing with my family to Breckenridge is my absolute favorite! It is soo pretty in the summer. The high is a nice 65ish everyday. Last year when we came in August...It snowed and rained the entire time yet it was still gorgeous! This year, the weather has been sunny and fabulous. It snowed for about an hour today but the rest of the day was full of sun shine! :)
Panning for gold in Breck...not much luck but still a neat experience!
Along with panning for gold and visiting Alma we have done some shopping and lots of yummy eating! And lots of good morning coffee. I don't know what it is about the mountains but I just want to get a hot cup of coffee and look at the beautiful scenery!

ANNNDD I saw Jesse from the bachelorette from 3 seasons ago. I watch all the shows and am kind hooked. I was brousing with Nathan in Patagonia and saw him. Yea..I walked up and talked to him too. He is a pretty nice guy. He actually won that season and proposed to Deeanna. Honestly, I kinda wanted Jason to win....but it was still fun to meet Jesse.

Some of my favorites from Italy!

and Venice of course was amazing!

Where we laid out in Capri! So beautiful!

Capri!!!!

This is taken from the pool area at our hotel.  There isn't really a beach in Sorrento because of all the rocks. So, each hotel built a deck for people to lay out on! It was so neat!

Me and 2 other girls from my trip took a weekend trip to Sorrento and Capri, in the southern part of Italy. It was the highlight of the trip..the prettiest views! This picture is of the cliffs in Sorrento that many hotels were on..including ours!

view from the winery in Lucca. amazing.

I was so excited to see David!!

We got to see the Pope. It was a neat opportunity! As we arrived to the Vatican, it was so crowded.  Randomly, a woman handed our group some red tickets to sit about 10 rows back.

pretty scenery in Rome
