headband love

Each bride is unique in what accessories they choose to wear on their special day. It truly is a beautiful expression of who she is. Some brides wear a veil, add a flower or wear a statement necklace. Recently I have been seeing a lot of beautiful headbands that would make beautiful hair pieces for a bride.

These last two images are fabulous. Have you heard of Old Soul, New Heart? They have beautiful hair accessories and jewelry. They just started designing CUTE wedding hair pieces too. They are too cute. And isn't this girl so beautiful?!? Loving her make up!

cosmetic packaging galore

Don't you just love browsing through Sephora or the cosmetic section of a huge department store? It is pure eye candy for me. I have always been drawn to the bright colors and playful designs of cosmetic packaging. I actually enjoy looking at the packaging more than the actual cosmetics while at Sephora. My favorite brand at Sephora is Benefit Their packaging is fabulous. It is very 1950's pin up girl inspired.

I think it would be pretty amazing to work on a creative team and come up with packaging design for some of the best cosmetic brands out there.

lately

Hi blog friends!

Heres a bit of what I've been doing lately...

My mom, brother, Lauren (Casey's precious gf who is taking the picture) and I...

went to see Lady Gaga last night...yep my mom is super cool and sorry for the bad picture quality.

we saw some pretty neat peeps but these girls were my favorites! So many cans in the hair and tons of crazy heels! LOVED IT!

and lots of these...which I super love!
Lady Gaga was by far the best concert I have been to. Gaga's clothing = amazing. I really appreciate that she doesn't give pop culture what it wants and instead just does whatever the heck she wants.

Okay, so gaga was pretty much my favorite part of my "lately" post but here are some other things that are still fun...

After a long search, we finally got a chiminea!

before                                                                           after!!!!

WE HAVE GRASS NOW!  Remember the before shot? Just dirt...! We are super thankful that almost all of it was leftover sod from a family friends backyard project. We are watering the heck out of and it is already a little greener. What an exhausting yet super rewarding landscaping adventure this has been...I am happy to have finally closed the book on this project..now onto the kitchen!...or maybe the master bathroom?!?

I have slipped away from blogging a bit. I hope to get back into the swing of it soon. Work has been pretty insane lately...but in a very good way. We've got some creative deadlines that we're almost finished with...so that will be rewarding when all done. Oh, and our AC broke for four whole days. Thankfully both of our families live here or else I am not sure what we would have done in a 95 degree house?!?!

Looking forward to: nathan's birthday party on saturday (the big 2-5)...I am thinking about making some of these and these (probably more for my satisfaction than his) and then going to philly with my love in 1.5 weeks!

lots o logos

I was asked to work with Chemical Flooding Technologies to come up with a logo/brand identity. To tell you the truth, I had absolutely no idea what Chemical Flooding Technologies (CFT) was, I bet you don't have a clue either. CFT works with oil. An oil rig only releases about 10% of the amount of oil actually in the rock. So, then water flooding companies come and flood the rig with water to push more oil out, but that only gets a little more out. SO THEN, CFT comes in and gets about 40% of the oil out!  So, after a lot of research, note taking and meetings to discuss the processes of this company..I got to sketching. The three components were oil, the chemical surfactant (yellow) and water. The surfactant is the middle man between the oil and the water.  Am I making any sense??!?!? Anyway, I used opacity and transparency in several of my sketches because the surfactant in a way is mixing with the water and oil push the oil out of the rig.

My favorite is the first one. I hope they pick this one! :) I think it is abstract but also illustrates oil coming towards us..which is ultimately what CFT does. I also love the typeface and that it is referencing old retro science reports.
