Pictures from Lubbock.

I went to Lubbock at the end of August to see Kelli, who lives there and Katie who flew in from Memphis. They are my sweet summer project freinds...and my blogging buddies as well :) I read up on their blogs often. A week after visiting kelli got ENGAGED to teddy. We totally knew it was going to happen soon- we were just so sad that we couldn't be there to celebrate. We tried to talk teddy into proposing while we were there...
I had a blast visiting and can't wait to see you all again in March for the wedding :) yay!!

around the house...

I haven't posted lately about decorating my little home. It is a very sloooooow work in progress but I love decorating and I am really enjoying coming home everyday to place that suits us and our style. It makes me happy. I haven't done any renovating yet...hopefully bathroom in the near future..?? I will need my friend Katie to give me some tips with tile, counter tops, etc. Anyway here are a few pics of some holiday decorating around my casa.
Fall centerpiece :) I've spiced it up a bit with more leaves on the table and inside the lantern.

This is my little tv area. The tv stand is one of my favorite pieces in the house. Its just so playful yet clean. I added some more leaves to this too and removed the price tags ;)

This is in my entry way. I loooove these candles. I blogged about them a while back here when I first got them. They are from CB2. I have been dying to decorate with them since I moved to my new home but I hadn't found the right place for them. I got the table at a boutique auction here in Norman for a steal of a deal. It has cute painted little birds on it. I have debated on whether or not to repaint it a glossy black but the birds grow on me more and more each day.
If anyone has ever wanted a semi large mirror somewhere in their home..they know how expensive they are! Most that I like were around $150. I was determined not to pay that amount!!!! I found this mirror at Ross for $20 and a few glossy black coats of spray paint I have my vision for $20! (already had the spray paint in the garage) I am really happy with the outcome. The color of the entry way just feels like fall. Love it.

These are my little babies that I have been growing since early July. I am proud to say that I have kept them alive through all of the summer heat.

my new love....packaging.

I finish my graphic design degree in May. Through out the past three years I have struggled with liking package design. It doesn't come naturally to me nor did I think it was that exciting. But, with in the last year my mind set has changed. I have had several package design projects that leave me feeling very proud at the end result. Its tough designing packaging but I think it is more rewarding than designing for just print because you are actually constructing the package but just the graphics.  I just finished my first packaging project where I designed a full line of male cosmetics including cologne, cologne box, shaving gel, aftershave, aftershave balm, and shower gel. I did less design work on the computer and used more of my hand skills to craft the design. I was really satisfied with the end result. I am going to do a photo shoot soon to add this project into my portfolio so I will add some pictures to the blog to show.
Anyway, all that to say, I love packaging. Its my new love. I have been constantly browsing thedieline and lovelypackage. These are great packing blogs full of crazy neat stuff. A lot of the products are food, wine, and health and body products. I so wish I could get my hands on some of those food items that come in such awesome packaging!!

Today I found this neat neat NEAT package design for Evian water. I love the diverse color palette and because the bottle is clear, you can see the range of colors wrap entirely around the bottle. beautiful.

Love these leggings!

So excited about my newest purchase! Loving these funky leggings! I am not a huge fan of the shin length leggings but I do love these full length leggings with a zipper. I love that they are edgy and fun! I ordered them from Urban outfitters last night and can't wait for them to come in! These pants will look fabulous with a funky tunic and pointed flats or they can be paired with a long cardi or boots. Either way I think this item is going to be a favorite of mine this fall and winter!

Its a neato folder kind of day.

I went to Lubbock this weekend to visit some great friends! Had a blast and I will post pictures soon. But today I have something bright and colorful from the neato folder. I have been sketching ideas for a logo design project at school and I am sick of blah pencil colored sketches and I am ready to look at something more exciting.
I honestly can't remember when I added this to the neato folder. Our friends Darby and Wes (who got married 08.08.09 see post from August) used almost exactly the same colors pictured above. Yellow, turquoise, and pink. These colors are considered playful, when used correctly and in the right amount. This color scheme is major eye candy...it instantly hooks me in. The colors make me want to stare at every detail of the wedding.
