Love this save the date. I added it to my neat-o folder recently. I believe I found it on stylemepretty. Love the hand drawn typography AND the fact that the bride and groom incorporated some of their personality into it.  They're into food so they put all of the wedding information on  a nutritional facts chart. I believe one of them is a chef..so it fits them perfectly! Love it! Also, love the paper. The texture adds just another interesting element which is nice.

Vaca to Breck

Vacationing with my family to Breckenridge is my absolute favorite! It is soo pretty in the summer. The high is a nice 65ish everyday. Last year when we came in August...It snowed and rained the entire time yet it was still gorgeous! This year, the weather has been sunny and fabulous. It snowed for about an hour today but the rest of the day was full of sun shine! :)
Panning for gold in Breck...not much luck but still a neat experience!
Along with panning for gold and visiting Alma we have done some shopping and lots of yummy eating! And lots of good morning coffee. I don't know what it is about the mountains but I just want to get a hot cup of coffee and look at the beautiful scenery!

ANNNDD I saw Jesse from the bachelorette from 3 seasons ago. I watch all the shows and am kind hooked. I was brousing with Nathan in Patagonia and saw him. Yea..I walked up and talked to him too. He is a pretty nice guy. He actually won that season and proposed to Deeanna. Honestly, I kinda wanted Jason to win....but it was still fun to meet Jesse.

Mixing of patterns. Love it. Makes design interesting.

Next find in the neat-o folder is a recent saved picture. I loved this design for 2 reasons. First because I love mixing of prints..dots and stripes and second love the shelves. Since moving..I am always looking for a way to incorporate shelving to add some books or pictures. Also, I am loving the anthropologie "T" initial that was taken off its stick type base. I just love this ottoman. I love polka dots. But, I love how these are not girly feminine dots..but chic and modern.

Loving the white walls

I have been loving white lately! I love the fresh quality about this room but the pinks, green, and bold b&w pattern for the coffee table adds that playful quality that is a must for me. I love color so much. so so much. When decorating our home...my first instinct was to paint the walls all sorts of bright colors...guacamole green, jalapeno jelly green, robins egg blue, terra-cotta red, and a nice light gray for the hallway. But, recently I have been noticing that my eye is drawn to rooms full of colorful accessories..rugs, flowers, pillows, frames, vases, bold patterns WITH STARK WHITE WALLS!! (i used to hate white walls) Gosh...I never thought of painting the walls white and going crazy with colorful accessories. I really like this clean look. Right now our living room is a nice guacamole green.  Its really pretty and calming but..I am having a hard time finding colors that look good with it. So all that to say...white walls and crazy colorful accessories = I LOVE IT!

Lime Green Lover

So, anyone who knows me at all knows that I love lime green. This used to be my master bed room inspiration. I still love it a lot but..I love the previous post better. I think I am in love with huge beds that make a neat visual statement and large mirrors that span from floor to ceiling--gah..something so chic about a big mirror! Love it! This room is just so cheerful, clean, and fresh! As I find great design whether its interior, fashion, or graphic design, I always save photos to a folder on my computer called "neat-o".  After 3 years or so I have accumulated quite the collection of things that have caught my eye. Its fun to see what caught my eye a few years ago and what catches my eye now.  My style and favorite colors are constantly changes as a designer so its neat to look back and remember why I loved a certain photo that I decided to save in my neat-o folder.

I like blogging but I am so bad at taking pictures of our life as its happening so fast! So, when I don't have any pictures to share of things Nathan and I have been up to...I will just share design that catches my eye or things that I find inspiration in for my own graphic design.

PS- now that I have been looking at this bedroom photo...I am falling for it all over again!

Steak and Shrimp night

This summer I have tried to experiment more with cooking since I have a little more time on my hands with no school. I went to Red Lobster with my mom one night and loooooved their garlic grilled shrimp. I tried to recreate it! I doesn't taste exactly the same but it was still wonderful and I will definitely make it again!

     Garlic Grilled Shrimp
2 lbs. lg. shrimp, unpeeled
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. olive oil
1/4 c. fresh parsley, snipped
1 tbsp. minced green onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
Coarsely ground black pepper

Peel shrimp, leaving tails on; devein and butterfly. Combine all ingredients except shrimp in large shallow dish. Add shrimp, tossing well to coat. Cover and marinate for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Cook on heavy duty foil on grill with marinade until pink, 6 to 8 minutes, tossing occasionally.

Kabobs!

Marinated Kabobs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper seasoning
  • 4 fluid ounces lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
  • 2 pounds beef sirloin steak, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
  • 2 green bell peppers, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • skewers
  • 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, stems removed
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 1 fresh pineapple - peeled, cored and cubed
Directions
In a medium bowl, mix soy sauce, light brown sugar, distilled white vinegar, garlic powder, seasoned salt, garlic pepper seasoning, and lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage. Reserve about 1/2 cup of this marinade for basting. Place steak in a large resealable plastic bag. Cover with the remaining marinade, and seal. Refrigerate for 8 hours, or overnight.
Bring a saucepan of water to a boil. Add green peppers, and cook for 1 minute, just to blanch. Drain, and set aside
Preheat grill for high heat. Thread steak, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and pineapple onto skewers in an alternating fashion. Discard marinade and the bag.
Lightly oil the grill grate. Cook kabobs on the prepared grill for 10 minutes, or to desired doneness. Baste frequently with reserved marinade during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
